“Beauty My Black” 2014 Blog Series – Who Am I In Christ?

Not all, but some of us find our identity through other people and things. The problem is that, society tells us that we are to walk, talk, and look a certain way. Take a look in the mirror and now look at the magazine cover… is there a match? If you look to the world for validation of your beauty, you’ll be disappointed.

The questions we ask are not the right ones. Many of us ask questions like the following. Who am I supposed to be in this world? How do I need to look? How can I fit in with this world? Wrong, wrong, and wrong. There’s only one question that really makes all the difference. Who am I In Christ?

The world has stolen our identity and we are charging it with identity theft. It’s maxed out our credit cards with insecurities, lies, narcissism, worldliness, and the list is just too long for completion. You need to call your bank and immediately cancel your credit card. You will then replace it with a Christ identity card, where there is no credit limit as to how beautiful, smart, confident and worthy you are.

It also comes with a book, which reminds you, “Who You Are” in Christ Jesus.  It’s called the Bible. It’s so important that we see ourselves the way that God sees us. He created us for a purpose bigger than what the world claims of us. Character is who you are behind the glam. If we spend time building Godly character, we’ll have something to say not only to ourselves, but to men and women of every shape, size, and color. We can tell them who they are in Christ.

I will help you start or continue, with these verses.

1 Peter 3:3-4

Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

Song of Solomon 4:7

You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.

In order to get a better understanding of our identity in Christ, read through the book of Colossians and Psalm 139. Feel free to like, share, and follow the, “Beauty My Black” Blog Series.
