There is “1” biological race… the human race. There is “2” groups that we should recognize… Christian and Non-Christian. You see, parents are more worried about the biological race that their son and/or daughter will marry, rather than what spiritual race that person is. We are all descendants of Adam and Eve, “All”.
When you know that we are all related, it sure changes the way we look at each other. You may look at a person’s outer appearance and judge who they are because of their nose, eyes, or even the fact that they may or may not have big earlobes. How is that for being totally shallow lol!
If you are anything like me, you believed that you were too “This” or too “That”. You most likely wondered why God would choose someone like you. You probably said things like, “God society doesn’t accept me, so go to the prettier, likeable, and more valued “ONE” in this world.”
In the bible there was man named David. This man wasn’t very handsome and valued in the eyes of the world. He had brothers that were very good looking and well accepted by society. When God called Samuel to pick the new king from this batch of brothers, David was not included, because it was assumed that God would not pick such a man for such a high calling.
All the handsome brothers except for one, (David) Lined up so that Samuel could anoint the new king. As he passed each one he said no, no, and no. David’s brother Abinadab was called and made to pass before Samuel. And he said, “The LORD has not chosen this one either. There must be another brother”. So when David was called, he looked at him and said, “This is the one God has chosen to be king.”
This verse is explaining the way that Samuel felt before choosing the new king. He surely thought that the handsome and tall brother Abinadab was sure to be the one God had chosen, but God had other plans…
1 Samuel 16:7
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the OUTWARD appearance, but the LORD looks at the HEART.”
